Having built a number of very large Facebook pages (and groups) one of the most common questions I get asked is 'how can I get more Facebook page likes?'
Generally, the people asking this question are also looking for how they can achieve this outcome for minimal cost (and why not? Who likes spending money unnecessarily!?)
Now I've blogged before about the fact that trying to grow your number of likes for the sake of just having more likes is generally not a great choice for business owners.
The reason for this is simply that in this age of increasingly dire organic reach, having a big number of likes on your business Facebook page is - in many respects - more of a vanity metric than anything else.
However, if you do use Facebook correctly (and I will be sharing a lot more advice on how businesses can do a great job with Facebook page marketing) then a larger audience - provided it is still engaged - can be very beneficial indeed.
With that in mind, here's a short video on how to get more Facebook page likes without having to spend any more money.
In case you don't have time to watch, here are the three key points:
- Don't post too much promotional content. Posting promotional content all the time can KILL your organic reach, and therefore kill your organic like growth. Spend more time posting more quality, non-promotional content so that you get more reach (and then get more likes).
- Ask your existing audience. Email to your database, be a bit more aggressive on your website etc.
- Use (sparingly) the invite function to invite people who have liked your posts to like your page.
