A common question I've seen asked online about digital marketing is:
"What is the difference between anchor text and keywords?"
Here's a quick answer for you to consider:
- Keywords are the words/phrases that you use on your site, which you are trying to rank for. For example, 'digital marketing tutorials'.
- Anchor text is the word or words that are hyperlinked to another site. An example of anchor text is as follows: ‘Digital Marketing Tutorials’ (the anchor text being the words ‘Digital Marketing Tutorials’)
When building backlinks, it's a good practice to try and occasionally use your main keyword(s) as anchor text. However, you also don't want to do this too often as you could get penalised by Google.
