Welcome back to another edition of Digital Marketing FAQs, the series where I answer your questions about digital marketing.
In today’s article I answer the question ‘does a Facebook pixel cost money?’
By now you’ve probably heard of the benefits of having a Facebook pixel installed on your site (namely the ability to do remarketing and tie conversions back to Facebook).
Even if you don’t yet intend on doing Facebook advertising, it’s still worth installing a pixel so you can “season” it (i.e. allow it to start collecting data for remarketing and conversion tracking purposes).
However, you may be concerned that a Facebook pixel costs additional money to set up and install.
So, does a Facebook pixel cost any money?
No, it’s completely free to set up and install a Facebook pixel and you aren’t obligated to do any advertising with Facebook (this may of course change in the future).
Where the cost might come from for installing a Facebook pixel is if you hire a web developer or digital agency/freelancer to do it for you - you’ll need to pay for their labour and time.
However, the pixel itself is free.
I’m working on another article - a simple guide to Facebook pixel installation using Google Tag Manager - so keep an eye out for that too.
Here’s a video on why you need to have a Facebook pixel installed on your site:
